Yesterday was the 14th anniversary of Rich Mullins' death. He was a prolific Christian songwriter, whose music has been covered by many bands. This quote of his is just absolutely perfect for the previous thoughts.
Christianity is not about building an absolutely secure little niche in the world where you can live with your perfect little wife and your perfect little children in a beautiful little house where you have no gays or minority groups anywhere near you. Christianity is about learning to love like Jesus loved and Jesus loved the poor and Jesus loved the broken..." - Rich Mullins
In the past few years since I've been serious about my faith, I've gotten so comfortable. I loved that I was finally hanging out with "the right crowd."
ReplyDeleteI left behind the people I knew that were jumping head first into sin and tried to live a happy little life like they didn't exist.
The great thing about being part of Church is we can still talk to those people! We have the support of our Church family to guide us so that we don't do what they do but rather bring our light into their darkness.
It's a wonderful freedom knowing that I don't have to stop talking to people I love because of their lifestyles.
We definitely need to love the poopr and the broken!
poopr?
