"Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” Luke 14:12-14Service is an important part of what it means to be a follower of Christ. We are called to service, to look after other's needs more than our own. The church, meaning us, the body of Christ, is to be the hands and feet of Christ, and we know that hands and feet move and get work done. We are to be the example, Titus encourages young men to set an example by doing what is good. This lesson applies to all of our youth, lets set that example.
On November 19th, we have that opportunity to be good examples, to care for those who can't always care for themselves. Our Storehouse ministry is giving a Thanksgiving dinner at 6 p.m that evening. In Luke 14, we are also reminded to humble ourselves, and a good way to learn this lesson is by serving at this meal. The Storehouse is one of the best ministries we have at Celebration, and we all need to be dedicated to the chance to help them with this dinner. It will be a blessing to the leaders of the Storehouse and to those who come to share in this meal.
Make your plans now, mark your calendars. Let's be a blessing to others.
