Romance

We live in a world consumed by lust, casuality, and at the finest, serial monogamy. I know I am not alone in questioning, where has love gone? I too have been at times in desperation, completely lovesick, searching outside for someone else to "complete" me, to "romance" me, and make me feel special.

We don't have to feel unloved. God says in Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you." He chose YOU! We live our lives trying to live up to the expectations movies have set for us instead of opening our eyes to the true love that we have had before conception. God is always trying to romance you. He has loved each of us so deeply that while we were still sinners, he sacrificed himself for us. There is no greater love than that.

I'd like to challenge you, as well as myself, to take notice to the things God has given to us out of love, the flowers, special people he has put in our life, for his son living in us!

Let's not take for granted that which he has freely given us. Esspecially for teenagers and young adults, don't let the fleeting feelings of young romance keep you from pursuing the greatest love of all, that which you will have only with Him.

But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in
God's unfailing love for ever and ever (Psalm 52:8).

  1. I am loving that verse reference at the end. I can see and feel that connection, an olive tree flourishing in the house of the Lord.

We used to sing this old hymn, "I Shall Not Be Moved". The chorus went, "Just like a tree, that's planted by the water, I shall not be moved". That is what it is like when we let ourselves grow in His love, roots made strong, growing, producing fruit. All because He loves us.
